The information collected in the myCommunity resource database is cruical from a community planning perspective. Improved access to reliable, timely data regarding available programs and services helps keep our community plans up to date and responsive to local needs and priorities.
To further this objective, Social Planning Council of Sudbury works collaboratively with many community organizations, all levels of government and other stakeholders to ensure our community has access to comprehensive and reliable local data.
Our partnership with the Ontario Early Years Centres is an excellent example of these collaborative efforts. On behalf of the Ontario Early Years Centres, we collect and share information relating to early years children’s programming (programs and services catered to children aged 0-6 and their families/caregivers).
The information gathered is used by Ontario Early Years Centres to create a local Children’s Services Strategy, including identifying gaps in service, assign local priorities and develop action plans. This information is also used by the Ministry of Community and Social Services to better understand what is happening in terms of children’s services in each community. We have made a significant investment in improving our infrastructure to allow agencies servicing the early years population to capture this information online.
Other local partnerships include:
- Manitoulin-Sudbury Community Care Access Centre, to provide improved access to health-related information and servcies.
- Canadian Mental Health Association Sudbury and District, facilitates improved access to mental health services.
- Manitoulin-Sudbury Dementia network, to provide improved access to dementia-related services.
- Independent Living Resource Centre Sudbury to provide improved access to disability-related services.
All data is collected, maintained and shared according to the federal PIPEDA legislation. As such, only non-identifying, aggregate information is shared. Personal information collected through the mySudbury system is protected, and secure.
